Facebook Bans New Yorker for Lewd Cartoon

The venerable New Yorker magazine, well known for its cartoons, along with commentary, criticism, essays, fiction, and satire, found itself temporarily banned from Facebook today, after a cartoon was posted on its Facebook page that the social network considered “obscene.”
The cartoon, which pictured a naked man and woman underneath a tree, ran afoul of Facebook’s guidelines and community standards on nudity and sex. Facebook suspended the magazine’s page for a short period of time – the cartoon was redrawn, and re-posted once the page was restored.
The New Yorker, not an outlet to take things like this lightly, explained their side of the story in an article they call. “Nipplegate.”
