Twinkies, Other Hostess Products to Return by Summer

The rights to the line of snack foods formerly made by Hostess have been purchased by a private equity firm, and plans are in place to return Twinkies, Ding-Dongs, Ho-Hos, and other goodies to store shelves as early as this summer.
Apollo Global Management, the equity form, has partnered with Dean Metropoulos, a food executive, and purchased the entire Hostess lineup for $410 million.
Originally, reports surfaced that the popular snacks wouldn’t return until September, but revised estimates say we could be eating Twinkies again by June.
Former Hostess employees, however, are not as lucky. The deal will use existing bakeries for manufacturing the snack foods, and will also rely on existing fulfillment and delivery services for transportation to the marketplace.
If you’re hankering for a Ho-Ho, you’ll have to wait a few months, or head over to e-Bay, where hoarders amassed a stockpile of the sweet treats last fall, and have been selling them off to the highest bidders ever since.
